Harvey Ebbage is a dynamic lighting designer and programmer with a distinctive presence in theatre, music, and live event production. With a deep understanding of the entertainment industry, he brings a powerful blend of technical expertise and artistic sensitivity to his work—crafting visual experiences that enhance storytelling, unify creative visions, and stir emotion through light.
Harvey’s creative foundation was built on stage. A graduate of The Urdang Academy and a seasoned performer in his own right, he developed an intuitive sense of rhythm, movement, and narrative from inside the story. Now working behind the scenes, he brings that same performer’s instinct to his design work—knowing how it feels to stand in the light, and how powerful that light can be.
His portfolio spans everything from intimate theatre productions and touring musicals to large-scale events and immersive experiences. Harvey approaches each project with curiosity, precision, and a collaborative spirit, always seeking to honour the story and elevate the moment through carefully considered design.
Currently, Harvey is proud to be working alongside Tony Award-winning designer Tim Lutkin as Associate Lighting Designer for the West End production of The Producers, further refining his craft at the highest level of UK theatre.
Alongside his creative sensibilities, Harvey brings a strong technical foundation to his work. He is experienced in lighting control systems and is a specialist in GrandMA, with additional experience across ETC EOS platforms. From pre-visualisation and system design to complex cueing, timecode integration, and fixture networking, Harvey combines practical expertise with a calm, solutions-focused approach. His fluency in both design and implementation ensures a seamless workflow from concept to execution—whether in a rehearsal room, live environment, or festival-scale venue.
Whether programming a concert, shaping an event, or designing a theatrical world, Harvey’s work is rooted in emotion, clarity, and a belief in the transformative power of live performance—and of light itself.
Outside The Booth...
When not behind the lighting desk, Harvey thrives on collaboration, kindness, and the electric energy of live performance. “Making theatre magic,” as they say. He believes deeply in the emotional impact of thoughtful design and the quiet strength of a well-run team. Outside of tech, his creative instincts lead him in many directions—whether Musical Directing guest entertainers aboard P&O Cruise Lines, composing and arranging for various musical projects, or occasionally stepping back on stage himself.
